Description
Color photograph of the State of Washington History of Mount Saint Helen's after the multiple volcanic eruptions and what is left of Spirit Lake. Exit for Castle Rock and Toutle to the top follow the Spirit Lake Memorial Highway to the top of several different vantage points. Note Spirit Lake to the right of Mount Saint Helen's which survived the volcanic blast with the first eruption in May 18th, 1980 which caused cities miles away to be impacted by the falling ash.

Thanks Susan Lee Giles for the feature in Women Photographers! Amazing day at the top and various viewpoints. It was breathtaking to see the restoration of the forest after visiting Mount Saint Helen's years ago when it was safe to re-enter the volcanic blast zone area. Such a different view from the early eruptions.
